ELKHART - Clyde (Mike) Hawn, 88 of Elkhart, passed away peacefully in the company of his loving family, November 23, 2017. He was born September 16, 1929, in Columbia City, IN to Adrian and Mary (Grubb) Hawn.
On September 21, 1952, in Milford, IN, he married EmmaJean Billet. She passed away September 19, 2010, in Elkhart.
Surviving are his two daughters, Cindy Shafer and Peggy (Ralph) Garner, both of Elkhart; two grandsons, Nate (Michelle) Shafer of Lithia, FL., and Nick Shafer of Elkhart; three great-grandsons, Kaden, Kyler and Jacob; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis L. Hawn.
Mike, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War was a member of the VFW Post #985. His passion was fishing and enjoyed sharing his catch with others. He worked as a carpenter and was among the members who helped break ground to build River Oaks Community Church and actively attended. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was loved by many.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 with funeral services held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home located at 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola. Pastor Tim Rowland will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
