Clyde A. Trossen, 91, of Osceola, died after a short illness on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. The Osceola native was born February 9, 1925 to Arnold and Ottillia (Kruthoff) Trossen in Marshfield, WI. At 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Marines Corps in 1942. On September 15, 1944, he participated in the invasion of Peleliu Island in the Pacific Theater, going ashore in the 3rd wave on D-Day during World War II. On November 26, 1954 he married Joan J. Spencer in The Peoples Church in South Bend, Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan J. Trossen; sons, Daniel C. (Debi) Trossen of Altavista, VA and Michael S. (Sue) Trossen of Osceola; nine grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Reed of Freeburg, IL and Darlene Klemme of Pound, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild; and one great grandchild. Clyde always said that the greatest joy in his life was spending time with family. He worked for over 30 years at Mossberg Printing and Co. in South Bend, IN. He attended New Life Church in Osceola. He was a passionate follower of Christ and taught Sunday School for many years, sang in the church choir, and was involved in several missionary organizations. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, November 13, 2016, from 1-4 PM at the New Life Church, 11593 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. On Monday, November 14, a committal service will be held at 2 PM in the Mausoleum Chapel on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561 with Dr. Mike Cramer officiating. The family''s preferred memorial is to New Life Church, 11593 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561.
