On Monday, October 16th, 2023, the world said goodbye to Cynthia Gail Smith, who peacefully passed away at the age of 70 after a sudden diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Her journey was marked by unwavering strength and resilience until the very end. She was known not only for her courage, but also for her exceptional kindness, leaving a positive and lasting impact on those who cared for her.
Cynthia dedicated an impressive 29 years of her life as a beloved professor at Bethel University where she taught many courses in the Business Division. Her profound influence extended far beyond the classroom, touching the lives of countless students and staff members throughout her long and distinguished career. After her tenure at the university, she continued to work in various roles within the realm of higher education, as well as engaging in other fulfilling endeavors that brought her immense joy.
Cynthia had an innate passion for helping others. Beyond her professional life, she was a gifted musician, sharing her love for the piano with her church congregation for the majority of her life. Her heart for others extended into her volunteer work with Stephen Ministry, where she dedicated many years to supporting individuals who had experienced heartache.
Cynthia is survived by her husband Bradley Smith, son Danny Randolph, daughter Nancy Clark, son-in-law JJ Clark, sister Pam Butters, and many nieces and nephews.
She adored her family and loved them well.
The service will be held at Bethel University. Visitation will be in the Everest-Rohrer Rotunda on Sunday, October 22nd starting at 1:00 pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow in the Everest-Rohrer Auditorium at 2:30 pm. Graveside service will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on Monday, October 23rd at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cynthia G. Smith Business Scholarship at Bethel University in Mishawaka, Indiana. (https://BethelUniversity.edu/Give/). Designate "In honor of Cynthia Smith"
