IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dale F.
Aukerman
September 21, 1934 – January 21, 2025
South Bend, IN
Dale F. Aukerman 90, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and servant of God, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, with his loving wife and family by his side. Dale was born on September 21, 1934, to the late Max and Lydia Aukerman in South Bend, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Spurlock, and by eight siblings: Donald Aukerman, Pauline Fulmer, Richard Aukerman, Robert Aukerman, Lois Farrer, Jean Stillson, Carolyn Kile, Ronald Aukerman, and John Aukerman.
A 1952 graduate of Bremen High School, Dale enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1956. After his military service, Dale went on to become a skilled carpenter and lather, working as a proud member of Local 413. His craftsmanship was particularly notable in the many churches he helped build and remodel, a legacy of his faith and dedication. Dale married Lucinda (Berger) on June 3, 1962, in Plymouth and they shared over six decades of love and commitment. Together, they raised three daughters: Marcia (Mike) Fewell, Kayleen (John) Carr, and Sharon Spurlock (deceased).
Dale was actively involved in his community, having been a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Bremen Jaycees, and taking part in local sports, including baseball, softball 5 days a week and bowling. He was a big Yankees and Notre Dame fan. He enjoyed gardening, especially his tall tomato plants and his giant pumpkins. He was also a longtime member of Ironwood United Pentecostal Church in South Bend, where he served his Lord with humility and grace.
Dale's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Lucinda; his daughters, Marcia (Mike) Fewell and Kayleen (John) Carr; his grandchildren, Brock (Shanley) Spurlock, Lauren (Nathan) Miller, Taylor (Ricky) Calhoon, Brandon (Ashlyn) Spurlock, Alexis Carr, and Cameron Fewell; as well as his great-grandchildren, Liam and Mason Miller, Davi, Jett, and Dax Spurlock, Baker Spurlock. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Briggs and Doris Jones.
The family will receive friends at Ironwood United Pentecostal Church, South Bend, on Monday January 27th, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
A funeral service will be held at Ironwood United Pentecostal Church, South Bend, on Monday January 27th, at 12:30 PM. Graveside Military Honors will be conducted by The U.S. Army and VFW # 360 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dale's memory to the church or to a charity of your choice.
Dale's family and friends will forever remember him as a man who lived his life with love, integrity, and devotion to both his faith and his family. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
