Obituary

Dale Richard Seely, 73, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the Center for Hospice in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Born on February 2, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, Dale was the son of the late Max and Genevieve (Eagle) Seely. He graduated from Allen Park High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Bethel College in Mishawaka, where he met the love of his life, Michele "Shelly" Miles. They were married on January 12, 1974, at Cedar Road Missionary Church, beginning a partnership full of love, laughter, and faith that lasted more than 50 wonderful years.

Dale spent much of his career as a sales representative with Nu-Wa and Carriage RV, later serving as Programs Director for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, where his compassion and dedication made a lasting impact.

Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Dale never met a stranger. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome—often with a clever remark or a perfectly timed joke. Curious by nature and always eager to learn, he possessed an inquisitive mind that was never quite at rest. He loved history, music, and beauty—whether playing the piano, listening to classical music, visiting the Ruthmere House in Elkhart, or strolling peacefully through the Wellfield Botanic Gardens with Shelly by his side.

Dale also loved a bit of friendly competition, especially during family card games of Uno, where his playful spirit came alive. He was competitive in the best way—it always made him smile to tease the kids when they lost. Never mean-spirited, he simply took great joy (and a little pride) in his bragging rights when he won.

Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Michele Seely; his daughter, Rachel, and son-in-law, Shane Gladieux; his son, Christopher, and daughter-in-law, Polly Seely; and his brother, David, and sister-in-law, Nadine Seely. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Tristen, Alexandra, and Braden Gladieux, and Lincoln Seely. He will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who were touched by his humor, kindness, and generous heart.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, October 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
