Danny J. McIntire Sr., age 70, of Mishawaka, passed away at his residence early morning Sunday, January 03, 2010. Danny was born September 26, 1939 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Omer and Goldie (McKesson) McIntire. On October 26, 1963, Danny was united in marriage to the former Ms. Norma J. Sharp in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Norma, of Mishawaka, survives, along with their sons, Robert L. (Sheila) McIntire, Danny J. McIntire Jr., and William J.(Jenny) McIntire. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and his siblings; Terry McIntire, Wanda Butler, Betty Pletcher, Brenda Smith, Wilma Bricker, Phyllis Donnaway and Barb Martin. Danny was preceded in death by his brothers Don and William "Sonny" McIntire and his sister, Judy Adams.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Thursday, January 7, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 8, 2009 at Chapel Hill and interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Danny was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, class of 1959. He served his country during the Korean War Era in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1963. Danny was employed as a truck driver by the City of Mishawaka Street Department for 27 years until his retirement in 2005.
Danny enjoyed Notre Dame Football, and playing cards with his family. He was also a Manager and Coach of Girls Softball at East End Little League in Mishawaka for 20 years. Danny attended the Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years as well.
