South Bend - Darlene K. Carlson, age 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Center for Hospice in Mishawaka, IN, with her devoted husband Craig by her side.
Darlene was born on November 16, 1957, in South Bend, Indiana, to Harold and Betty (Fairchild) Reasor. She spent her life in the South Bend area, building a family and leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and kindness.
Later in life, Darlene pursued higher education with determination and grace, earning a degree in Business with Honors from Davenport University. This academic journey was made even more special by the fact that she shared it with her niece, demonstrating her belief in the power of lifelong learning.
Darlene spent many years working as a dedicated secretary for a law professor at the Notre Dame University Law School. In this role, she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her warm, caring nature, which left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with her.
A woman of deep faith, Darlene was a devoted member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where she found strength, solace, and a sense of community. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, helping her to navigate life's challenges with grace and compassion.
Darlene's passions extended beyond her professional and spiritual life. She had a deep love for family history and genealogy, often spending hours tracing her roots and connecting with relatives near and far. She cherished long conversations, whether in person or on the phone, where she would share stories, laughter, and wisdom. Darlene also loved collecting and writing down recipes from friends and cookbooks, bringing joy to her family and friends through her delicious meals. A creative soul, she enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, reading, and shopping. Her beloved cats were her constant companions, providing her with endless comfort and joy.
Darlene was preceded in death by her brother, Terrence Reasor, whose memory she held close to her heart.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 47 years, Craig Carlson; her brother, Harold James Reasor Jr. of Osceola. Darlene is also lovingly remembered by her nieces Anne Pauwels and Jennifer Reasor, and her nephews Terry Reasor and Brett Reasor, who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Darlene's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and kindness. She touched the lives of everyone she met and leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed by all.
