Darrell Ray Bailey, 66, of Elkhart, passed away Friday September 29, 2017. He was born January 30, 1951 in Goodwill WV, the son of Elmer & Mildred (Brown) Bailey and later lived in Bramwell WV, graduating from Bramwell High School with the Class of 1969. Darrell was a veteran of the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict. On July 26, 1975, he married Sally M. (Harrison) Bailey in Elkhart. Darrell was a steel fabricator and worked for 47 years at Bull Moose Tubing Co. in Elkhart, retiring in 2016. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed the times spent with family & friends, especially NASCAR and drag racing; he could be found on most Sundays at the Osceola Dragway. "He had a huge heart and cared for everyone before himself. He was a truly selfless person touched who many with his loving heart. He was loved and will be missed by many." Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Bailey and his half-brothers, Dickie & Bobby Bailey and half-sisters, Carol Sue Lessor, Shelvia Dillon and Janice Hume. He is survived by Sally Harrison Bailey, his wife of 42 years, and their daughter, Chasity Bailey Henderson of New Braunfels TX; grandchildren, McKinzi Henderson of Houston TX , Samantha Henderson of New Braunfels TX and Brantley Henderson of Monticello IN. His mother, Mildred Bailey of Elkhart; brother, Marshall (Jean) Bailey of Elkhart and his sisters, Debbie (Greg) Murphy of Tallahassee FL & Diane (Rick) Lyndon of Zionsville IN. Funeral Services 2:00 Friday October 6, 2017 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, where friends may call for one hour prior to services. Calling also from 4-8pm Thursday in the funeral home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family''s preferred memorial is the American Heart Association.
