Darus J. Franklin, 81, died Monday, October 13, 2014 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. The Waterloo AL native was born December 10, 1932 to Robert L. & Sennie B. (Whitaker) Nolen. On August 31, 1951, she married Noah Franklin in Mishawaka. Noah preceded her in death in 2005 after 54 years of marriage. In addition to her parents & husband, Darus was preceded by her daughter Karen Franklin in January 2014, and also by 3 brothers. She was a homemaker who was devoted to her family and thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren; she was an avid seamstress, quilter and crocheter. Darus is survived by her son, Nathan (Wanda) Franklin of Osceola; daughters, Renee (Michael) Thompson and Mary Franklin, both of South Bend; sister, Pat (Spencer) Congram of Monticello; grandchildren, Nicholas Franklin of Osceola, Rachel (David) Meckley of Morenci MI, Emily (Michael) Toole of South Bend, Kate (Steven) Shultz of Osceola, Christopher (Lisa) Wheeler of Mishawaka, Natashia (Clinton) Catt, Autumn Thompson and Andrew Thompson, all of South Bend and 14 great-grandchildren.
