Obituary

Darwin Ashley Dunning, 91, of Mishawaka, passed away at 4:45 am, Sunday, July 10, 2011 in his home. Darwin was born on March 5, 1920, the son of the late Dutch and Harriet (Sussaman) Dunning. On June 6, 1992, he married Neva Winrote.
He is survived by his loving wife, Neva; a son, Jon (Cece) Dunning of TN; three step sons, Mark (Cathy) Wieczorek of Osceola, Barry Wieczorek of Nashville, TN, and Brian (Kim) Wieczorek of Galien, MI; three grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and a step grandson, Craig Wieczorek.
Darwin graduated from Edwardsburg High School and proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge during his service and was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked as a truck driver for Mohawk Doors of South Bend for many years before his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Teamster''s, DAV #19, Eagle #2083 and Moose Lodge #599. Darwin also ushered for Notre Dame football games for 44 years.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 14, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, with full military honors.
