David Robert Birtwhistle, age 68 of Mishawaka, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. David was born September 8, 1945 in Mishawaka to the late Robert and Mary Ellen (Gordon) Birtwhistle.
Survivors include his children, Robert (Rhonda Winter) Birtwhistle and Michelle Birtwhistle, both of Mishawaka. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Alyssa, Hailey, Dustin, Trey and Kenadi. David is survived as well by his sister, Sharon Spatuzza of California.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Monday, January 13, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Chapel Hill with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
David served proudly in the US Air Force from 1963-1969 before being honorably discharged. He was a Union Electrician for many years, employed by Transtech Electric in South Bend. He was a longtime member of the IBEW Local #465 and enjoyed spending his spare time fishing. He also loved caring for his pets.
