David Allen Coon, 74, of Elkhart, died at 10: 23 pm, Friday, January 2, 2015 in Hubbard Hills Estates, Elkhart. David was born on August 27, 1940 in Angola, IN, the son of the late Edwin M. and Lula D. (Henry) Coon. On July 31, 1976, he married Dorothy "Dottie" Ryor on July 31, 1976. She died on January 16, 2014. He is survived by three sons, Robert (Cheri) Coon, William Coon, and Thomas (Cari) Coon; two step sons, Rex Ryor and Brett (Teresa) Ryor; 15 grandchildren, Brittanee Nelson, Abigail Ryor, Brett Ryor, Jr., Jamie Neilson, Brandon Ryor, Brandi Benson, Stacy Finch, Kylee Coon, Billy Coon, Becky Bosquez, Katherine Coon, Hunter Coon, Tyler Coon, Davy Coon and Taylor Kight. He is also survived by 25 great grandchildren, Kadence, Patrick, Austin, Matthew, Kylee, Jeremiah, Belle, Nathanael, Charles, Joey, Ava, Kyle, Tucker, Landon, Payton, Lova, Dentize, Daymein, Daniel, Jr., Kayden, Payton, Madison, Dylan, Cael and Easton and siblings Jerry "Mike" (Gail) Coon and Sue Ehresman. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Judith Lynne Kight and grandson, A.J. Ryor. David was an ordained minister. He and his wife, Dottie, were traveling Evangelist and Musicians for 36 years. He was an active member of the First General Baptist Church, Osceola, where he taught the Bible. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and photography. He also enjoyed cooking and gardening. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 8, 2015 in the funeral home with Rev. Larry Sonnenburg officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
