On August 7, 1976, David married the love of his life, Janet (Rains), in Willoughby, Ohio, at Willo- Hill Baptist Church. David was a proud graduate of Bob Jones University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Business, and worked as a portfolio manager at Key Bank, where he was highly respected.
David's passions included traveling with Janet to Michigan and enjoying their favorite restaurants. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer, always finding joy in the great outdoors. As a member of Gospel City Church in Granger, his faith was a cornerstone of his life.
He delighted in attending his grandchildren's events and was known for always having a toothpick in his mouth and a hat on his head. His love for chess created lasting memories with his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Janet VanderWier; his children, Tanya (Chris) Mabie of Osceola, David (Kara) VanderWier of Mishawaka, Jill Jellel of Osceola, Lisa (Aaron) Rohrer of Hagerstown, Maryland, and son-in-law Chris Jellel of North Webster, IN; 10 grandchildren; brother Jon (Linda) VanderWier of Carmel, IN; sister Lori (Steven) Dye of Indianapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 28th, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon with Reverend Lonnie Mullins officiating at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, IN. Private interment will be held at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Gospel City Church, 52277 Hickory Rd, Granger, IN 46530.
David's legacy of love, faith, and family will forever be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. Rest in peace, husband, father and World's Greatest Papa. You will be deeply missed.
