David Lee Mathes, Sr., 80, entered into rest on January 8, 2022. He was born on May 8, 1941 to the late Helen and Chauncey Mathes in South Bend, IN. He enjoyed working on cars, remodeling around the house, attending birthday parties for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. David found a lot of happiness being around his family. He proudly served in the Army and always enjoyed July 4 ^th .

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alfred Mathes and Chauncey Joe Mathes; and sister, Ardell "Mickey" Kester.

David is survived by his wife, Wilma Mathes; sons, David Mathes, Jr. and Timothy DeWayne Mathes; daughter, Shawne Marie Mathes; brother, Harry (Peggy) Mathes; sister, Mary Ann McCall; grandchildren, David (Rachel) Rose, Amber Mathes, Kyle Hartz, Kody Hartz, Kasey Sanderson, Kevin Mathes, Kristian Sanderson, Christopher Hankins, Jr., and Christina Hankins; and great grandchildren, Brayden Rose, Royce Niles, Kayden Cope, Khyler Cope, Vyolet Jacobson, and Kristian Sanderson, Jr; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, January 14, 2022 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with the Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home,10776 McKinley Hwy Osceola, IN 46561. Burial will follow the service in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
