Debra K. Hanson, 56, of Elkhart, died Sunday, February 19, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. The Elkhart native was born May 11, 1960 to Robert and LaVonne (Nash) Guffey who have both preceded her in death. On June 3, 1995, Debra married Edward Hanson, who survives. Debra attended the Osolo Missionary Church for many years. She was a member of the Elkhart Moose and The Blue Star Mothers. She will be remembered as a person who walks, going to parks and festivals, the 4-h fair, fishing, and Simonton Lake Turkey Shoot. Debra loved campfires and spending time with her family along with the occasional trip to the Four Winds Casino. Debra is survived by her husband, Edward; children, Ricky (Jennifer) Guffey of Louisville, KY, Edward (Tammy) Hanson of Edwardsburg, MI, William Hanson of Elkhart, Patricia Sue Guffey of South Bend, and Lisa (Doug) Wilson of Elkhart; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Roland Guffey, Duane Guffey, Ricky (Sue) Guffey, and Pamela Guffey; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Duke and Brandy. She was preceded in death by her parents. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. A funeral service in Debra''s honor will be on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 2 PM with calling one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
