Brown
August 23, 1941 – February 15, 2025
Delene Brown, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health. Her passing leaves a lasting void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of sharing her life.
Born on August 23, 1941, in Trumann, Arkansas, Delene was the daughter of the late Olen and Beulah (Rorie) Adams. She was also preceded in death by her beloved infant daughter, Dewana Brown.
On December 23, 1967, Delene married her loving husband, Lonnie Brown, in Mannington, West Virginia, embarking on a journey of 57 years together. Their union was a testament to love and companionship that transcended time and life's challenges.
Delene was a devoted member of First General Baptist Church, Osceola, IN, where she was one of the oldest members, touching lives with her kindness, generosity, and steadfast faith. Cooking for her family, especially her grandchildren, was one of her greatest joys. Whether it was a delicious home-cooked meal, gardening in her yard, or sharing stories over a cup of coffee, Delene's warmth and nurturing spirit created a home where love flourished. Her devotion to Avon sales and watching her favorite game show, The Price Is Right, were also among her cherished pastimes.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Lonnie Brown; her children: Lonnie Brown (Penny) of Elkhart, Deaina Michelle Stephenson (Larry) of Osceola, and Tania Ann Dewitt (Joey) of Elkhart. Delene also leaves behind her grandchildren: Ashlee Brown, Jason Tesch, Nicholas Brown, Shianne Brown, Devin Brown, Ryanne DeWitt, and Braxton DeWitt, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Delene's legacy is further carried on by her siblings: brothers Dee Adams and Terry Adams (Terri), both of Osceola; and sisters Olene Ledgewood, Shirley Taber (Wayne), Barb Bailey (Lyle), and Phyllis Lancaster (Jim), all of Osceola. Additionally, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved and admired her deeply.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. The funeral service to celebrate Delene's life will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 12:00 noon, also at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Following the service, interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN
Delene's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love, care, and support provided during her final days. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
