Obituary

Delores J. Smith, age 77, of Foley, Alabama, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital Sunday, August 14, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born September 21, 1933 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Irene (Case) Myers. On January 10, 1951, she married Robbin Gene Smith in Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 8, 2006. Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Emily.
Delores is survived by her daughter, Pam (Gilbert) Smith of Elkhart, and three grandchildren; Shad Miller, Jeremy (Michelle) Smith and Emily (Cody) Mitchell. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Breanna, Mason and Jace, who all called her "Crazy Granny." Her brother, Kenneth (Mary Lou) Myers, also survives.
Delores worked for Uniroyal her whole life, until her retirement when she and her husband Robbin moved to Foley, Alabama. Her memberships include the Osceola First General Baptist Church, and the Magnolia Springs Baptist Church in Alabama. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Delores enjoyed flashy vehicles, especially her cars and big trucks with noisy mufflers.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the 2:00 pm funeral service Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Indiana. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
