Denny sought to pursue a greater level of faith and spiritual maturity. He found his home church with the late Pastor Mark Beeson at Granger Community Church in Granger, Indiana. He was a warrior for both God and Country. He began each morning in prayer and blessed others with his daily devotionals.
Denny was a sports enthusiast; if he wasn't participating, he was watching. He enjoyed playing many sports over the years; football, softball, basketball, bowling, skiing, and scuba diving.
