Diane V. Briesacker, 73, of Elkhart, died Saturday July 30, 2016 at The Center for Hospice in Elkhart. The Chicago native was born April 1, 1943 to Nicholas & Violet (Thrawl) Gerhardt [Chavez]. She retired from Data Processing at UMI in Elkhart and was a member of the DAV Chapter 19 Auxiliary. Diane was known as always being helpful to others; she also enjoyed reading, bowling and collecting owls, of which she had an avid interest. In addition to her parents, Diane was also preceded in death by her husband, Gary Briesacker in 1990. She is survived by her sons, Scott (Melinda) Briesacker and David Briesacker, both of Elkhart; her grandchildren, Kieri (Jesse) James, Patricia Briesacker and Hunter Briesacker, all of Elkhart; step-grandson, Gregory Floyd of Elkhart ; sister, Donna (Arvid) Steffek of Mesa AZ and several nieces & nephews, including David Gerhardt of Hobart. There are no services or calling in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Private interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
