Dolly Emma Gene Keyser, age 87, of Vandalia, MI, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 at Heartland of Three Rivers Michigan. The oldest of ten children, Dolly was born June 28, 1927 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Harold M. and Alice Elizabeth (Miller) Butler. The Mishawaka High School graduate met her husband Robert J. Keyser while giving guitar lessons in Mishawaka, and they married on August 1, 1948.
Surviving is her husband of 66 years, Bob Keyser of Vandalia, MI, and their children, Diana (Pete) Torres of Granger, Bill Keyser of Osceola, Mary (Dave) Hoover of Edwardsburg, Jeannine Selner of Mishawaka,. Also surviving is her sister, Nancy Melcher, her son in law, Ruben Martinez, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rose Martinez.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, with a memorial service to follow at 7pm. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Dolly was a longtime member of the New Apostolic Church in South Bend. She was very active in the Church, and sang in the choir for many years. Her love for Christ was shown through her care and concern for others. She loved to send cards and letters to friends and family, and help others in need. In her spare time, she used her "green thumb" to grow flowers and vegetables in her garden, and crocheted scarves, and hats for others. She was also involved with TOPS for many years, and loved to collect porcelain dolls, along with many other things.
In her memory, donations may be made to the family.
