Dolores Llamas McDonald

March 17, 1942 – May 24, 2024

Dolores Llamas McDonald passed away peacefully at her home on May 24, 2024.

She was born in Madrid, Spain in 1942 to Francisco Arias Llamas and Asunción Herranz, and spent her childhood and young adulthood there, and briefly in Germany, before meeting her husband Ron McDonald, stationed in Spain with the U.S. Air Force. After marrying, they moved to South Bend, Indiana, Ron's hometown.

Their marriage of 57 years produced son Robert (Sonny) (wife Theresa Flowers), daughter Julia Blank (husband David Blank), and five grandchildren, Cody, Stuart, Duncan, Liam, and Colin, who survive her, as well as two brothers and their families who reside in Spain.

All who loved and knew her, including the clergy and staff at the University of Notre Dame, where she worked with her best friend Maria Salazar for 22 years, knew of her high energy and hard work, but it was her open, generous spirit that was most remarkable, which will be most missed.
