Dolores J. Romeu, 82, of Mishawaka, passed away at 8:30 pm, Friday, July 8, 2011 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Dolores was born on September 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Emil "Mose" and Margaret (Barry) Kucela. On January 24, 1948, she married Anibal "Bill" Romeu, who passed away on October 9, 2008. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Arlene Kucela.
She is survived by two children, David (Donna) Romeu of Atlanta, GA and Christine (Gerald) Schelstraete of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Iana Tassada, Brian (Teri) Schelstraete, Ericka (David) Schelstraete-Savage, and Nichole (Greg) Jost; as well as four great grandchildren, Brynn, Sophia, Adam, and Briella.
Dolores worked for over 38 years as first secretary, then office manager of the UAW before her retirement in 1989. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka, Red Hat Society, Renaissance Rouge, and St. Mary''s Academy Alumni.
Calling will be held one hour to the 5:00 pm memorial service, Monday, July 11, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Rev. Daniel Schiedt will officiate. Entombment will follow at a later date.
