Obituary

Dolores L. Newcomer, 82, of Osceola passed away at 1:20 pm, Friday, January 31, 2014 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer''s. Dolores was born on February 28, 1931, the daughter of Joseph and Rachel (Maenhout) Van Driessche. On September 10, 1971, she married Donald Newcomer. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Donald of Osceola; two daughters, Cheryl Sloan of Mishawaka and Gina (Charles) Mitchell of Osceola and four grandchildren. Jamie, Nick, Brian, and Chris Mitchell. She is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn McCartney of Las Vegas, NV, Sylvia (Nate) Van Duysse of Mishawaka, brother-in-law, Al Hoerstman of Mishawaka, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Joan Hoerstman and son-in-law, Bob Sloan. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spoiling her grandchildren. Her hobbies included collecting dolls, bowling leagues with her sister and tending to her rose gardens. She previously sold Avon and was a member of the BK Club Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Monday, February 3, 2014 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in the funeral home with Rev. Bob Vale officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family prefers memorials to the Alzheimer''s Association, 50 East 91st St., Indianapolis, IN 46240.
