ELKHART - Donald Lee Cloud, 81, passed away peacefully November 18, 2017 while surrounded by his family in Fort Pierce, Florida. Mr. Cloud was born in Bristol, Indiana on May 9, 1936 to the late Charles and Isabella (Dean) Cloud. He married Belva Scheetz in 1985 and celebrated 32 years of marriage this past October 26th.
Mr. Cloud was a 27-year-retiree of the United States Coast Guard. He proudly served on the USCGC Edisto in 1967. Known as a WWII vintage vessel, the Edisto was one of the first two ice breakers sent to the Arctic and made exploratory history on the Easterly Route. Don was a lifetime member of the Buckhead Ridge, FL VFW Post #9528, Bristol, IN American Legion Post #143, as well as the Elkhart, IN DAV Post #19. He loved to read, work on crossword puzzles, fish, and taking daily walks and being surrounded by nature. Most of all, Don adored his wife and reveled in taking care of her as only a dedicated husband could. His good nature kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Belva Cloud; son, Donald Cloud; daughter, Melissa Cloud; step-sons, Larry (Cheri) Scheetz, Roger Scheetz, Roscoe (Jan) Scheetz, and Chuck (Brenda) Alberts; step-daughters, Patricia (Art) Krop, and Theresa (Jerry) Parker. Mr. Cloud is also survived by his beloved nephews, Barry and Steven Cloud along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 30, 2017 with funeral service to follow at Chapel Hill Funeral Home located at 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola.
