Donald Edward Bowers, 79, of Elkhart, died Monday February 13, 2017. The Mishawaka native was born September 17, 1937 to John C. & Gladys (Hartman) Bowers. Fondly known as Eddie to family & old friends alike, in recent years many called him Don. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and worked for NY Central/Penn Central/Conrail RR for 30 years. Eddie was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Mishawaka Lodge #1262; American Legion Post #308-Osceola; VFW Post #360-Mishawaka; DAV Chapter #19-Elkhart; Elkhart Vintage Auto Club and the Studebaker Drivers Club-Michiana Chapter. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by Jerrilyn Bowers in 1998, his wife of 37 years. His survivors include his companion, Mary Ashcroft of Elkhart; his daughter, Donna Williams of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Brandon Williams of Osceola, Brian Williams of Goshen and Brittanie Williams of Mishawaka; great-grandchildren, Ava & Zoie Williams and Brodie Churchill, all of Mishawaka; his sisters, Ruth Ann DeMoss of Mishawaka, Kathy Milburn of South Bend and his brother, Chuck (Diana) Bowers of Osceola. Funeral Services 10:30 Thursday February 16, 2017 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, with calling one hour prior to services.
