Donald E. Miers, age 83, of Elkhart passed away on December 2, 2016 at 8:45 AM at home. He was born March 28, 1933 to Edward and Bertha (Miller) Miers in Chicago, IL. After graduating from High School, Donald enlisted in the United States Army. On May 15, 1954, Donald married Sue Bobo. She preceded him in death on November 14, 1999. Mr. Miers worked as a Production Superintendent in manufacturing until his retirement. Donald was a member of the NRA, and was the epitome of a true patriot. He enjoyed golfing, all sports, fishing, gardening, antique collecting, and was a history buff. Donald is survived by his children, Deborah Uselman and Doug (Julie) Miers both of Elkhart; six grandchildren, David, Robyn, Matthew, Aaron, Bailey, and Hannah; three great grandchildren, Ava, Warren, and Weslyn; a brother, William Miers of South Bend. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 45 years, Sue; his siblings Charles and Carol. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 4-7 PM at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. A funeral in Donald''s honor will be Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 10AM with calling one hour prior to the service at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
