Obituary

Dores Jean Goodman, age 70, of South Bend went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2011. She loved and lived her life to the fullest. She was quite happy and content.

Dores loved her family and friends with gusto! She was devoted to the Lord . The fellowship she had with her church family at Sonlight Fellowship Church was a blessing to her. She was, and is our "Prayer Warrior".

She is survived by her daughters Susan Goodman and partner David Wilkin and Zelma May Frye, both of South Bend, and her sons Kenneth Goodman and his wife Christina and Michael Goodman and his partner Sue Arend of Osceola. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michael, Eric and Stuart Woodward, Jenna Rose Goodman, John, Nicole, Tarah and Stacey Blasko, Mikalyn and Michael Goodman and four great grandchildren. Dores is also survived by her two wonderful brothers Kenneth Beery of Elkhart, and Charles Beery and his wife Anna of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Surviving as well are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William Goodman, her parents Joseph and Zelma Beery, her son William Goodman and her granddaughter Heather Mae Tobin.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 5-8 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Pastor Greg Holmes will conduct the 11:00 am Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Dores was a member of the Sonlight Fellowship Church for many years. She was employed in Nutritional Services at Memorial Hospital in South Bend for 21 years before her retirement in 2002. She enjoyed being with her family, spending time outdoors and camping. In her memory, donations may be given to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, Indiana 46637.
