Dorothy V. Buckel, 100, of Elkhart died Thursday, March 21, 2013. The Kalamazoo native was born July 15, 1912 to Carl W. and Elsie Smith. A graduate of Elkhart High School and Elkhart College of Business, Dorothy worked as a Legal Secretary for a number of years before taking a job at Uniroyal, from which she retired. Dorothy enjoyed her membership at the YMCA Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred R. Schamber; her second husband, Lawrence J. Buckel in 1967 and her son, SSgt. Gordon P. Schamber, USAF in 1997. Graveside Services 1:00 Monday March 25, 2013 in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with Pastor Larry Sonnenberg officiating; Friends are asked to gather at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, beginning at 12:30.
