Obituary

Dorothy D. Ryor Coon, 85, Elkhart, died, Thursday, January 16, 2014 surrounded by family. The South Bend native was born July 18, 1928 to Bertrand and Lorraine (Richards) Corley. Dottie is a graduate of Clay High School, class of 1945. She went on to graduate from Lynchburg Bible College in 1985. She married Armand "Pete" Ryor in 1946. After Pete''s death, she married David Allen Coon on July 31, 1976. She is survived by two sons, Rex Ryor and Brett (Teresa) Ryor, and three step sons, Robert (Cheri) Coon, William (Shelly), and Thomas Coon; 16 grandchildren, Brittanee Nelson, A.J. Ryor, Abigail Ryor, Brett Ryor, Jr., Jamie Neilson, Brandon Ryor, Brandi Benson, Stacy Finch, Kylee Coon, Billy Coon, Becky Bosquez, Katherine Coon, Hunter Coon, Tyler Coon, Davy Coon and Taylor Kight. She is also survived by 23 great grandchildren, Kadence, Patrick, Austin, Matthew, Kylee, Jeremiah, Belle, Nathaniel, Charles, Joey, Ava, Kyle, Tucker, Landon, Payton, Lova, Dentize, Daymein, Daniel, Jr., Kayden, Payton, Madison, and Dylan and two brothers, J.C. (Mary) Corley and Larry (Lulla Belle) Corley. She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, and step daughter, Judith Kight. Dottie''s life was centered on music. She was an accomplished pianist, having recorded and written several gospel songs. She spent 50 plus years in music ministry that included churches such as Ferguson Park, South Bend, Hilltop Baptist in Cincinnati, OH, Cherry Hill Baptist in Dayton, OH, and Station Baptist in Sacramento, KY. Dottie and her husband, David, were traveling Evangelist and Musicians for 36 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Osceola and was a bible teacher and scholar. In her spare time she loved to play the piano and crotchet. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Monday, January 20, 2014 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in the First General Baptist Church, 11101 E. McKinley Hwy, Osceola with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
