Dorothy Mae Ruff, age 74, of South Bend, passed away at 4:02 am Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Dorothy was born March 21, 1935 in South Bend to the late Vernon and Helen (Matuszkiewic) Williams. On June 26, 1954, Dorothy was united in marriage with Mr. Ronald L. Ruff Sr., a love that would last over 54 years. Over the many years of marriage, Ron lovingly referred to his wife as "Babe" or "Dot."
Ronald Sr. survives, along with their children, Ronald L. (Michele) Ruff Jr. of Xenia, Ohio, Mona (Randy) Root of South Bend, Indiana and Laurie Barrier of Elkhart, Indiana. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Mark in 2004 and her three siblings.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Reverend Ed Erskine of the Northway Church of Christ will officiate the 3:00 pm. funeral service on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Earlier in her lifetime, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her husband Ron skating, dancing and listening to music. In their later years, she and Ron still enjoyed the music that shaped their lives. Dorothy was a homemaker, and enjoyed walking, playing BINGO, and being with her dogs.
