Dorothy C. Smith, 102, of South Bend, passed away at 8:30 pm, Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in The Milton Home. Dorothy was born on August 1, 1908, in North Liberty, IN, the daughter of the late Roy B. and Margarette (Blough) Leatherman. On June 24, 1927, she married Percy Stubblefield, he passed away in 1934. She remarried Howard Smith on July 3, 1937 and he passed away in 1973. She is also preceded in death by three sons, Ola Stubblefield, Roger Stubblefield and Russell Smith, brother, Joseph Leatherman, and three sisters, Mary Leatherman, Martha Rzepka, and Margarette Miller.
She is survived by three children, Percy (Ophilia) Stubblefield of Seabring, FL, Joan Barbour of Hot Springs, AR and Mary Corban of South Bend, 26 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Roger Leatherman of Sulpher, OK and two daughter in laws, Karla Stubblefield of Portage, MI and Francine Stubblefield of White Pigeon, MI.
A time of gathering to share memories of Dorothy will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, June 10, 2011 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola.
