Obituary

WAKARUSA – Dorothy Vance, 88, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully with her loved ones by her side on February 2, 2018 at Millers Merry Manor in Wakarusa. She was born May 24, 1929 in Goshen, Indiana to the late Leo and Mabel (Cooper) Schmidt. On February 18, 1949 she married Henry Vance in Goshen.  She worked at the Goshen Bag Factory for 25 years and retired after 15 years at Luxe. She loved to sew and made many dolls and clowns. She also enjoyed knitting and crafting of all types. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She cherished time spent with her family.

Dorothy is survived by her son Bill (Vicki) Vance of Elkhart; grandchildren, Billy (Robin) Vance, Laurie Hall & fiancé Fred "Tony" Alliy; great grandchildren, Vanessa (Austin) Rosenberg, Brittany Hall, and Brian Vance; great-great grandson, Jaxon Rosenberg, and sisters, Barbara Smith, Mamie Kyle, Grace Moser, Ruby Cook, Charlotte Supples, and Betty Rush. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Shaffer and brothers, Bobbie, Harold, and Dale Schmidt.

Visitation for Ms. Vance will be Tuesday February 6 th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy, Osceola. Funeral service will be Wednesday February 7 th at 10:00 am with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
