Duane E. Cable, 101, died Thursday February 13, 2017 at St. Joseph-Mishawaka Regional Medical Center. The Detroit native was born August 1, 1915 to Orville G. & Mary (Castille) Cable. Duane served his country in the US Navy during WWII and on July 26, 1945 he married Patience L. Pat'' Lewis (Cable) in Mishawaka; she preceded Duane in death in 2013 after 68 years of marriage. Duane retired from Miles Laboratories and was a member of Gospel center Missionary Church. During the 1950''s Duane helped build the First Church of the Nazarene and also taught Sunday School there. He enjoyed bowling and belonged to a league; he rode his motorcycle well into his 70''s and also played harmonica in a band, named "The Lord''s Gang". Duane enjoyed the harmonica, and played it throughout his life for family & friends. With a sparkle in his eye and always a friendly smile, he showed genuine concern for the well being of others. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his son, Phillip and daughter-in-law, Beverly Cable; brothers, Ivan, Robert, Earl, Paul and Kenneth Dale and his sister, Lois. Duane is survived by his daughter, Judy (Bill) Buraczewski of Mishawaka and his son, Glen Cable of Carson City NV; grandchildren, Ann (Mark) Taylor, Shelley (Craig) Nowacki, Bill (Melissa) Buraczewski, Marilyn (Dana) Muscot, Glenna (Jesse) Tschetter, Tina Cable and Chris (Starr) Cable, all of Mishawaka; 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services 11:00 Tuesday February 21, 2017 in Gospel Center Missionary Church, 930 S. 30th Street, where friends may call from 10-11am.
