Dwight J. Ward Sr., age 88 of Osceola, passed away at Hospice House in Elkhart on Thursday, September 20, 2012. Mr. Ward was born July 6, 1924 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Ray and Lillian (Chaney) Ward. On November 19, 1944, Dwight married Helen Snyder in Osceola. Helen preceded him in death, passing away March 14,2008
Surviving is his son, Dwight J. (Cathy) Ward Jr. of Osceola, 4 grandchildren; Stephen (Marcia) Niomon of Indianapolis, Indiana, SSGT Douglas Ray James (Daphne) Ward of Great Falls, Montana, Amy Lynn (Matthew) Smith of Mishawaka, and George (Lisa) Reith of Cape Coral, Florida. Also surviving are 9 great grandchildren; Kyle, Rachel, Mikayla, Dylan, Savannah, Matthew, Haley, Andrew, and George. Dwight was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Niomon in March of 2012, and his siblings, Harold Ward, Marge Lang, Chuck Ward, and Virginia Meyer.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 1:00 pm funeral service on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow in the Garden of the Last Supper on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Dwight was employed for several years at Studebaker in South Bend, and then at Federal Paperboard until his retirement at the age of 62. He was a former member of the Eagles and the Moose Lodge. Dwight enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman on Barton Lake in Schoolcraft, Michigan.
