Edward W. Gammill, age 87 of South Bend, passed away December 2, 2012. Ed was born June 6, 1925 in Niles, Michigan to the late Edward F. and Anna A. (Hazel) Gammill. On February 11, 1978, Ed married Eleanor (Patterson) Wilcox in Niles, Michigan.
Survivors include his wife Eleanor of South Bend, daughters LuAnn (John) Klimek and Tomi Sue (Joe) Burrows, both of Niles, step son Mike Wilcox of Mishawaka, and step daughter Jeanine (John "Butch") Porogi of New Carlisle. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren; Tanya Wilson, Ashley and Aaron Lintz, 6 step grandchildren; Justin, Jeremy and Brian Wilcox, Emily Hopper, Heather Trobaugh, and Nicole Porogi as well as his great grandchildren, Mason Winchester, Isaac Porogi, Royce Johnson, Nevaeh Trobaugh, Hannah and William Aberegg, Cassie and Brandon Wilcox, and Riley and Morgan Hopper.
There will be one hour of calling prior to the 2:00 pm memorial service on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola.
Ed enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17, and served during WWII before being honorably discharged in February of 1946. He was employed for over 32 years with the Bendix Corporation in the aircraft fuel controls division before his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, and had spent many winters in Arizona with his wife Ellie.
