Obituary

Edward Ray Posey, age 86, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital at 4:33 pm. Edward was born in Flora, Mississippi on December 20, 1923 to the late Loy Martin and Nellie (Bates) Posey. On August 11, 1945, Ed married Doris I. Dozier. Doris preceded him in death, passing away January 8, 2010.
Surviving is his daughter, Linda Bowers of Elkhart, and four grandchildren; Tammy Stanley and her husband Ronnie, Dennis, Tracey and Jamie Posey. Also surviving are 2 great grandchildren; Brandi Bowers and Amanda Garrigan, and 3 great great grandchildren, Madi, Maka and Cloee. Ed is also survived by his niece, Faye Cooper. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Posey in 1993, and his grandson, Jeffery Scott Bowers in 1987, as well as his brother, Billy Posey and his sister, Paralee Brewer.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Monday, August 2, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, with interment to follow in the Garden of Everlasting Life on the grounds of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country during WWII, before his honorable discharge in 1946. Ed went on to earn his degree from the University of Notre Dame, and was employed for over 20 years as a plant manager at Skyline Incorporated of Elkhart before his retirement.
Ed was deeply devoted to his wife and family, and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. In his memory, donations may be made to the Riley Hospital for Children.
