Obituary

Edwin Robert Courtright was born in Union City, PA on February 12, 1934, the youngest son of Miriam and Lester Courtright.  He graduated from Union City High School, and joined the United States Marines to serve during the Korean Conflict. He trained at Parris Island and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, in California. When he returned, he met the love of his life, Barbara (Weed) Courtright at Canadohta Roller Rink, and after a coffee date at Union City Diner, they soon were married, and filled the home they built with four children. Edwin was very involved in American Baptist Men of Pennsylvania and Project Winsome and continually shared his faith through his vocation and work ethic. He started on the loading docks at Erie Malleable Iron Foundry and worked his way up through the industry to become president of a small foundry in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Edwin and his family resided in Union City, Pennsylvania, Barberton, Ohio, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mishawaka, Indiana. After retirement, he and Barbara resided for a short time in Three Lakes Park in Hudson, Florida. In every place that they lived, Edwin and his wife were supporters of their church and youth group, participating in retreats, camps, and mission trips. Wherever he traveled, whether Okachobee, Florida,  Northumberland, England, Tyumen, Russia, Bahrain, or the local Ihop, he made fast friends with his quick wit and kind heart. He cherished his relationships with siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews through social media and visits. He will be remembered fondly for his humor, his stories, his inventions, his fortitude, his avid interest in knowledge and books, and his upstanding Christian witness.

Edwin Courtright is survived by his sister, Martha Silka, sister- and brother-in-law, Linda and Sam Harrison, brother-in-law, Ron Harris, and sister-in-law, Jane Courtright. He is also survived by his children, Debbie Courtright-Nash and Jim Nash, Cynthia (Courtright) and Harvey Shick, Mark and Enna (Bagaipo) Courtright, and Chrissy (Courtright) and Darrin Green, and his grandchildren, Marina (Shick) and Randall Loutzenhizer, and Cianna Shick; Michael Green, Owen Green, and Maverick Green; Julia Nash and Andrew Nash; Amiel Bagaipo Courtright, Jemimah Bagaipo Courtright, Oshea Bagaipo Courtright,  and Robert Emmanuel Courtright.

Edwin and Barbara Courtright's favorite verse was Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.  Their children are grateful to be able to share that their parents are finally able to see the glory of God together.
