Edwin Smith, 80, of Mishawaka, passed away in his home surrounded by family at 6:03 pm, Sunday, October 24, 2010. Edwin was born on October 31, 1929 in Lauderdale County, Alabama to the late Marvin and Mozella (Young) Smith.
Edwin married Betty Scott on December 31, 1948. He worked as a foreman for Uniroyal for 38 years before his retirement. He is a member of the Current Road Church of Christ.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty, three children, Melissa (Lloyd) Troyer of Osceola, Kenneth (Patricia) Smith of Osceola and James (Michelle) Smith of Mishawaka, daughter in law, Christine Smith of Granger; 11 grandchildren, Carrie, Amy, Jessica, Allison, Nathaniel, Amber, Sarah, Laura, Matthew, Jennifer, and Julie, and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Levada (Ed) Szymczak of South Bend and a brother, Joe (Betty) Smith of Florence, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dannie Smith, and sister, Eulala White.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 27, 2010 in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 28, 2010 in the funeral home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Rev. Jay Winter will officiate.
