Elaine Shank Brenneman, 93, of Sarasota FL and formerly of Elkhart, died Friday, April 8, 2016 in Sarasota. She was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Chicago. Her family moved to Elkhart in 1929. Elaine retired from Miles Laboratories Inc. in 1982. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Nellie Hoffman, husband, Abraham Brenneman, and sister Shirley Windmiller. Elaine is survived by her children, Patricia Shank Forshee of Sarasota and Niel Shank of Arlington, TX; her sister, Mary Ann Gilmore; niece, Sharon Windmiller and her daughter Kelly Worsham. Also surviving Elaine are Jane Growcock, her best friend since kindergarten, and special family friend, Patricia Johnson, all of Elkhart; niece, Kathy Miller and her children, Ryan and Jennifer Hostetler of Goshen; stepdaughter Pam (Marty) Ogren of South Bend and step-granddaughter, Ranee (Brett) Conley and their children, Drew & Morgan of Edwardsburg, Michigan. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 Thursday May 19, 2016 in St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St., Elkhart . The family will receive friends from 10-11am in the church. Interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer''s Association or Tidewell Hospice, Sarasota.
