Elaine A. (Jones) Caldwell, 77, of Goshen, passed into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the home of her daughter. She was born June 10, 1941 in Elkhart to Paul D. and Olive (Doty) Jones. On February 27, 1971 she married the love of her life, Barry J. Caldwell. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2012.
Elaine is survived by her children, Karen (John) St. Germain of South Bend, Carla (Jeff) Munger of Goshen, Barry Jr. (Robin) Caldwell of Florrisant, MO, and stepdaughter, Deborah Appling of South Bend; five grandchildren, Amy (Melanie Phillips) Reecer, Tim (Allison Smith) Reecer, and Jason Reecer, all of Elkhart, Zachary (Angelica) Norris of Granger, and Jacob (Haley Downer) Norris of Fort Wayne; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Janet Bayes; her brother, Thomas (Rebecca) Jones, both of Elkhart; and her dearest friend, Jessica Miller of Elkhart.
Elaine was a 1959 graduate of Elkhart High School and then attended Baptist Bible College in Grand Rapids, MI. She worked at Adams and Westlake for many years. She retired from Walker and Gullota Law Office in 2007 but continued to work there until 2018.
Elaine enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, camping, going to Goodwill, and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhart. She enjoyed hosting holidays for her family and her Christmas breakfast was an annual tradition. Elaine also loved her dogs, especially her faithful companion Roxy. She played violin in church, with her sister Janet on viola, at First Baptist Church while growing up. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561. A funeral service in Elaine's honor will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 10 AM with her brother, Tom Jones, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County, 54687 County Road 19, Bristol, IN 46507 or Ribbon of Hope Cancer Support Ministry on line at ribbonofhope.org.
