Ella Hensel, age 77, of Osceola, passed away at her residence on Monday, November 30, 2009. Ella was born July 17, 1932 in Waukegan, Illinois to the late Marvin and Dorothy (Wiegrefe) Hurlbut. On January 16, 1971, Ella was united in marriage to Mr. Kenneth Hensel in Osceola, Indiana. Kenneth preceded her in death, passing away January 3, 1999.
Surviving are their children; Rick Wilburn of Osceola, Burt (Linnie)Wilburn of Osceola, Ross Hensel of Osceola, Rose Marie Wilburn of Plainfield, Indiana and Kyera Wilburn of Mishawaka. Surviving as well are 12 Grandchildren, and 17 Great grandchildren. Also surviving are Ella''s siblings, Forrest "Frosty" Hurlbut of Mishawaka, Claude Hurlbut of Indianapolis, Ruthie Flatoff of Texas, and June Strange of Illinois. Ella was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Hensel Jr., and her brothers, Marvin, George, and Clarence "Blackie" Hurlbut.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the Noon funeral service on December 5, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Ella was employed by the Uniroyal Corporation in Mishawaka for 32 years before her retirement. She then went on to work for several years with Switch Systems. In her younger years, Ella enjoyed playing sports, bowling, and working puzzles. She was very involved with her Grandchildren as well.
