Ellis Gray Jr., 73, of Elkhart, entered into eternal rest on February 28, 2022. He was born on January 15, 1949 to the late Ellis Grays Sr., and Margaret Jones in Portageville, Missouri. Ellis loved to play cards and trying his luck with the lottery. He enjoyed watching western movies and hanging out with his friend "Killer".

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Elmer, Michael, and John Gray; and his beloved dog, Lucky.

Ellis is survived by his wife, Helen (Steele) Gray; children, Ura Gray, Anthony (Gloria) Gray, Alice Brown, Alvin (Ivy) Steele, Doris (Tim) Means, and Charli Echols; brothers, Charles (Liz) Grays, Earl (Ruby) Gray, and Sherman Booker; sisters, Margaret House, Linda (Lamar) Jefferson, and Belinda (Rusty) Hodges; grandchildren, Arache' Gray, Jazma Johnson, Riche' Gray, James Gray, RaiQuelle Gray, Anthony Gray Jr., Aidan Gray, Alvin Steele II, Mykal Steele, Paris Woods, Demi Woods, Daylee Woods, Marquis Echols, and Sydnee Echols; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Agape Missionary Baptist Church, 248 W. Wolf Ave., Elkhart, IN 46516. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family to assist with unexpected funeral expenses. Services have been entrusted to Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
