Erma Evelyn Harwell, age 88, of South Bend IN, passed away on May 24, 2013 in her home. As the youngest of 9 children, Erma was born October 20, 1924 to James Isaac and Rachel (Sutton) Ramsey in Cosby, TN. In Athens, AL on December 21, 1945, Erma married John Gilbert Harwell, who preceded her in death in 2006. Her 5 brothers and 3 sisters all preceded her in death.

Surviving is a son, John Lee (Kazaan) Harwell, a daughter, Jo Ann (Kenneth Earl, deceased) Bickel, as well as a sister-in-law, Martha (Bill, deceased) Ramsey. Erma was grandmother to 5 grandchildren, Amelia Ellen (Mark) Daniel, Makenzie Ann (Patrick) Gaughan, John Keith (Lydia) Stemen, Aaron Ashley Harwell and Glenn Christopher Harwell and 3 great grandchildren, Olivia Brianna Gaughan, Simon Patrick Gaughan and Cole Monroe Daniel. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held June 1, 2013 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah''s Witnesses, 26807 U.S. Highway 20, South Bend IN 46628. Burial has taken place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Chapel Hill Funeral home assisted with arrangements
