Obituary

Ernest O. Brown, 92, of Granger, died Tuesday December 13, 2016. Ernie was born in Kewanna on July 30, 1924 to Clayton G. & Mary (Baughman) Brown. He graduated from Kewanna High School with the Class of 1943 and was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Military Police. On September 2, 1952, Ernie married Lyda Maxine Brown in River Park Church of God. Pet-named "Sweetie-face", he always called her the love of his life and seldom missed a kiss hello or goodbye. Maxine preceded him in death in 2004, after 52 years of marriage. Ernie was a member of Northway Church of Christ and was a former member of Harris Prairie Church of Christ. He retired in 1986 as a machinist for Dodge Mfg. in Mishawaka; Ernie enjoyed retirement; listening to big-band music, laughing & spending time with family & friends. His survivors include his children, Michael (Beverly) Brown of Mishawaka, Diana Lynn Shea of South Bend, Greg (Cathlene) Brown of Edwardsburg, Kathi (Mitch) Williams of Canton IL, Kevin Clayton Brown of Colorado Springs CO, Stanley DeWayne Brown of Granger, Karen Marie (Scott) Blackford of Wilder TN and Teresa (Carey) Wood of Indianapolis; 43 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Ernie was also preceded in death by his son, Raymond Eugene Brown; sisters, Virginia O''Brien, Emma Horine, Thelma Hunt, Dorothy Steinke and Mary Ann Brown and his brothers, Robert, Forrest & Dick Brown, as well as a grandson, Robert Brown. Rev. Chuck Wotring will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 Monday December 19, 2016 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. with calling one hour prior to services. Calling also from 5-7pm Sunday in the funeral home. Interment in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. The family''s preferred memorial is Northway Church of Christ, 19525 Auten Road South Bend, IN 46637.
