Esther I. Rankin, age 90, of Vandalia, MI passed away at her home on Mon. July 21, 2014. Esther was born April 11, 1924 in South Bend to the late Jesse and Opal May Bell. She was a veteran of the US Army, serving as a staff car driver during WWII.
Surviving are her sons; Jeffery (Jennifer) Rankin and Kelly (Diana) Rankin, both of Osceola, and her daughter Sherrie Rankin of Vandalia, MI. Surviving as well are 4 grandchildren; Stephen, Theresa, Shaylynn, and Kris. Esther was preceded in death by her brother, sister, and a grandson, Jeffery Scott Rankin.
There will be no funeral services. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Esther enjoyed being outdoors and spending time planting flowers in the garden. In her younger years, she liked to ride horses, drive go-karts with her children, and ride motorcycles.
