SOUTH BEND- Esther E. Harman 94, passed away Friday May 1, 2015 at The Milton Home, South Bend. She was born December 30, 1920 to Fred and Nellie (Taylor) Geissel in South Bend, where she stayed a lifetime resident. Esther married Walter J. Harman and with him they raised a large family. Walter "Whitey" preceded her in death in 1976. She loved cooking for her family, making home made noodles, and hosting Christmas cookie parties for all the children in the family. Esther enjoyed the arts and crafts and playing bingo while residing at The Milton Home. Where she also enjoyed sitting out on the patio. She had been employed by Robertson's Department Store downtown South Bend for over 20 years. She also was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. One of her greatest loves of all was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She is survived by sons William (Jane) Harman of Albion, MI: Lew Leroy (Nancy) Harman of Niles, MI: Frederick (Jeannine) Harman of Elkhart, IN: Anthony "Tony" Harman of Walkerton, IN: and daughter Ruth Ann Nowakowski of South Bend, IN. She is also survived by twenty three grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Ella Spaulding of South Bend, IN. Three sons Michael, Wally and Joel Harman, as well as two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are grandson M. Christopher Harman, and great granddaughter Devin Lynn Harman. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday May 6th, 2015 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 51900 Mayflower road, South Bend, In 46628. Friends my visit with the family Tuesday May 5, 2015 from 4-8:00 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561 and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Harman may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
