Ethel Rose Miller, 76, of Mishawka, passed away at 11:15 am, Friday, February 17, 2012 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Ethel was born on January 24, 1936, the daughter of the late Phillip and Stella (Kalmar) Kaufman. On March 7, 1953, she married Russell B. Miller, Jr. He passed away on May 18, 1997. She is also preceded in death by one son, Rusty Miller, who passed away on August 20, 1997.
She is survived by five children, Nancy (Rick) Gartner of South Bend, Michael (Cathy) Miller of Elkhart, Dusty (Barbara) Miller of Hyattsville, MD, Stephanie (David) Heimbecher of Mishawaka and Endora (Ed) Rickard of South bend, 15 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Russell (Mary) Kaufman of Avondale, AZ and Richard (Marilyn) Kaufman of Mishawaka.
Ethel owned/operated Ethel''s Redwood Truck Stop in Elkhart from 1973-1983. She then went on to open Ethel''s Caf in South Bend from 1995-1998 before retiring. During these years she made many life long friends from across the country
There will be no visitation or services for Mrs. Miller. Cremation will be taking place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola is handling arrangements.
