Eugene Firestone, 94, passed to his rest on March 20, 2019.  He was born February 12, 1925 in South Bend, Indiana to Wilbur F. and Elizabeth Emma (Seggerman) Firestone.  After graduating High School, Eugene served his country honorably during World War II in the United States Army.  He was an ordinance truck drive at the Battle of the Bulge and on Omaha Beach on D-Day.  In 1950, Eugene married Joan Bowman in Mishawaka and she passed to her rest in 2008.  He worked at Studebaker, Owned Gene's Speed Shop, and together with Joan, owned and operated Bowman's Automotive Company.  He was a very generous and loving family man.  Gene enjoyed riding horses, and later in life, collecting die-cast and radio controlled cars.  He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Pamela (Ron) Scarberry; grandchildren, Erick (Sarah) Holmes, Jay (Rose) Skeeters, Beth (Nick Haines) Stickel, Adam (Cheryl Holloway) Stickel, Autumn (Matt) Cameron, and Ron (Clarissa Densmore) Scarberry; great-grandchildren, Madalyn Cameron, Elijah Cameron, Alisea Cameron, Lewis Cameron, Jordan Cameron, Kendall Stickel, Ethan Holmes, Avery Holmes, Gabriella Stickel, L. J. Skeeters, Aleksander Stickel, Ashlynne Scarberry, Koltyn Scarberry, and Amber Scarberry; and a brother, Robert Firestone of North Liberty.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Doris Nicodemus and Willowdene Firestone; and a brother Richard Firestone.  There will be a private family funeral with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Resale to the Rescue, 905 West McKinley Highway, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545 or Center for Hospice, 22579 Old US 20, Elkhart, Indiana 46514.
