Eugene E. Hess, 90, of South Bend, died on November 26, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born on December 18, 1927 in Coldwater, Michigan.  Gene served his country honorably in the United States Army and was the founder and owner of Gene's Heating and Air Conditioning for many years.  He enjoyed antiquing furniture woodworking, fishing, and he made jewelry.  Gene is survived by his children, Sandy (Jeff Szabo) Hamann of South Bend, Jerry (Mary) Hess and Cindy Lytte both of Florida, and Ronnie (Pat) Hess of St. Joseph, Michigan; 5 grandchildren, Bill (Diana) Hamann, Kevin (Deb) Hess, Jay Hess, Bobby Jo (Dwayne) Lytte Burke, and Tammy (John) Snedeker; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and 1 sister.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  In accordance with Gene's wishes, no services are planned at this time.  A private cremation committal will take place with interment at a later date.
