Obituary

Plymouth- Eugene J. Sayer, 81, of Plymouth, Indiana, formerly of South Bend, Indiana passed away and went to be with our Lord on Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth, Indiana.
Eugene was born October 13, 1928 in South Bend, Indiana to Alexander and Mary (Bedi) Sayer. On July 3, 1954, Eugene married Alice R. Tavernier-Pryer in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Surviving are his children, Maria (Joe) Brothers of South Bend, Christopher (Jeanette) Sayer of Culver, and Theresa Lyczynski and Joseph Lyczynski, of South Bend. Surviving grandchildren are Jeffrey, Jessica, Jennifer, Courtney, Allen and Steven. Eugene also has 4 great grandchildren. Eugene was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline, Dorothy, Anna and his brother John. He was also preceded in death by his grandson Tyler J. Lyczynski.
Eugene was a parishioner of St. Anthony DePadua Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana and a Golden Eagle of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, South Bend Aerie # 435. Eugene bowled for many years at Eagles and St. Anthony''s Club. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a lifelong Cubs fan, hoping someday they would win the World Series, and loved his Country Music.
Eugene had Alice by his side for a wonderful 55 years until his death. Eugene retired from South Bend Toy Manufacturing after 35 years and was the former owner of Home Sharpening Service in South Bend.
A special heartfelt thanks goes to Jeanette Sayer and his nurse Alethea Chenoweth, and the entire staff of Pilgrim Manor who provided outstanding care to him.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the Noon funeral service on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Eugene was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was our best friend and was always there for us when we needed him. He will be truly missed. Dad, we love you!
